Hill House – private residence | Rijeka, Croatia | 2020 | concept design
Hill house is private residence located in the hinterland of the Adriatic coast, near Bakar. Steep terrain conditions are defining the plot, which is elongated towards the west. The concept draws from traditional drystone walls, which were used to cultivate steep hills in the area. House is organized as a three-story cascade building, with open space areas attached to the core. Such organization allows freely arrangeable areas on each floor, all linked to the exterior through a full-length patio terrace.
By following the landscape sense of the place, the house tends to blend in instead of disrupt, connect to the surroundings instead of managing it, build upon Mediterranean heritage rather than cultivate it.
